Dandruff
Symptoms
The symptoms are – as the name already says – visible horny skin scales that detach themselves from the surface of the skin. With regard to dandruff, a distinction can be made between dry, fine, fluttering skin scales and large, oily skin scales that are firmly attached, depending on the extent of sebum production (see above 'seborrhoea sicca' or 'seborrhoea oleosa'). Often, dandruff is accompanied by a clear itching of the scalp. The white skin scales are clearly visible particularly on dark clothing, which is why they are frequently a burden to those affected.
